D Ratings are an introduction to the fun and challenge of riding, establishing a foundation of safety habits and knowledge of the daily care of a pony and tack.
C Ratings are for pony clubbers learning to become an active horseman, to care independently for pony and tack, and to understand the reasons for what he or she is doing.
B Rating is for the active horseman and pony clubber who is interested in acquiring further knowledge and proficiency in all phases of riding and horse care.
A Rating is the highest rating. It is divided into two parts: the H-A which covers horse management, teaching and training and the A which tests the riding phase.
For further information on the ratings and specific requirements
for each consult the USPC home page.
All Marlborough Pony Clubbers who wish to rate up at the next
testing are required to send a letter (email is fine) to our DC, with a copy
to the Ratings Coordinator as soon as they know that they wish to rate up, but
no later than 6 weeks before the scheduled testing. Unrated members who wish
to be tested for D1 are exempt. The letter should include your current rating,
the rating you wish to be tested for, what you have done to prepare for the
testing, and why you think you are ready to pass the rating level for which
you are applying.
In addition, no later than two weeks before the scheduled testing, all required
paperwork must be turned in. This includes a completed flow chart (test sheet
will do); for D3s and above, an up-to-date record book; and for C2s, a conditioning
schedule.
